College Football Playlist

We are just a few weeks away from the start of the college football season! Killing some time on a recent road trip I put together a playlist of songs that make me think of college football, feel free to criticize or add to it because it was all off the top of my head and the cabin had bad reception/no wifi.

Enter Sandman, Metallica

Virginia Tech gamedays seem like fun, even the “Go Sports” Girl must be familiar with Enter Sandman.

I love the tradition before home games in Blacksburg blaring Metallica, it never fails to get the crowd hype.

Mr. Brightside, The Killers

We head to Ann Arbor for the next one, this is one that has been recently popular in The Big House.

Love the viral clip from the Maize-out game, shortly after COVID allowed fans back in the stands it was really cool seeing a sold-out stadium singing along.

Shipping up to Boston, Dropkick Murphys

My home away from home, South Bend. Absolutely love the kickoff combo of Cathy Richardson’s “Here come the Irish” and the smooth transition to the Dropkick Murphys.

Jump Around, House of Pain

I love this one because it is the going into the 4th Quarter song for the Wisconsin Badgers, big fan of 90’s Hip Hop being used to rally the crowd.

Dixieland Delight, Alabama

Tuscaloosa has plenty of gameday traditions, I am not the biggest country music fan but the way the fan base for the Crimson Tide can fit in talking smack about their rivals is incredible.

“Spend my dollar (ON BEER),
Parked in a holler ‘neath the mountain moonlight (ROLL TIDE),
Hold her uptight (AGAINST THE WALL),
Make a little lovin’ (ALL NIGHT),
A little turtle dovin’ on a Mason Dixon night (F**K AUBURN),
Fits my life (AND LSU), oh so right (AND TENNESSEE, TOO),
My Dixieland Delight.”

Take Me Home, Country Roads; John Denver

Not sure if West Virginia is almost heaven but Morgantown has given us Pat White, Tavon Austin, Steve Slaton and Pat McAfee. That’s good enough for me.

I Won’t Back Down, Tom Petty

The Swamp is electric on gameday, they could probably make any song work for a sold-out home game but still must show Tom Petty some love here.

Sandstorm, Darude

Staying in the south you would think country music or classic rock… right? South Carolina blesses the Gamecock crowd with this banger and I love to see it.

Sweet Home Alabama, Lynard Skynard

Yes, Alabama is on here twice. Tuscaloosa does not have a professional team, this is the filler for that and for some it may even be a filler for church.

Rocky Top, The Osborne Brothers

Could you imagine if I left off Rocky Top? The marching band plays this song so many times during a game it is a tough one to forget.
